The turf is the main eye-catcher of a garden.
The main steps to be carried out in a lawn are cuts, organic fertilization, irrigation, re-seeding and
aeration.
By nature, the turf regenerates its old blades of grass with younger, stronger ones and with more vivid colour. The old drying part that detaches from the grass is called felt.
Over the time, this felt creates a well pressed layer of a few millimeters, which is waterproof and has a yellowish colour between the collar of the grass and the ground, completely spoiling the aesthetic and
the state of health of the lawn.
As a matter of fact, this felt layer decreases transpiration of the lawn, blocking the air circulation and creating perfect humidity and temperature conditions for the proliferation of fungal pathologies, causing death and yellowing lawn.
The felt layer is formed mainly in winter: possible snowfalls cover the turf blocking gas exchange and light supply and the lawn tends more easily to yellow, losing the dead parts which are naturally pressed
by the weight of the snow.
